The Gossip does the Camden Crawl

Last night The Gossip headed out with its good friends Neil Brody and Dan Hegarty to see the great and the good of this year’s Camden Crawl. We started out in The Camden Court Hotel with The Snails who treated us to excellent covers. We moved on to JJ Smyth’s where we saw Grouse weave their way in and out of ambient textures and tunnels with fine dexterity. We’d like to give a special nod to their drummer who had the audience in thrall, particularly on the band’s second last number – that’s a special bit of talent you’ve got there.

Two piece drumĀ and guitar band Kid Karate were up next. With about five minutes to go before their set, it didn’t look like many of the band’s 800 plus twitter followers were going to show but come kick off the place was packed. It was easy to see why. These guys kicked the doors off. The lead singer has a cracking rock voice and oozes charisma. If they sharpened up their in-between-song patter and got on with it these guys would be an even better live act. They are already cracking. Knitting it all together would make them awesome. Special nod goes to their mate Ian McFarlane who came on and played bass for a couple of tracks. We had a quick chat with him about his playing style after the gig and you can hear that interview this Thursday coming.

A good night.ImageImageImage
